Web Team Adelaide recently spoke with David Moran, CEO & founding Partner of Mental Health Partners (MHP), a South Australian family owned company specialising in Mental Health First Aid since 2015.

How is Mental Health Partners unique?

Every busines has its own uniqueness. We asked David where he felt his business had its uniqueness.

David was quick to say that it was the clarity and alignment with their mission in every practical way.

MHP’s mission statement is Training with Integrity to Strengthen our Community.

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses upholds this statement with tangible features such as 24 hr after-care for participants upon course completion, and ensuring a two-person training team at each course.

This enables participants who have experienced an emotional reaction throughout the course to be completely supported by the MHP team.

Another way that the MHFA course reflects the MHP mission statement is the 10% minimum of free placements policy for each course. The purpose of this is to ensure that every person from every echelon of society has access to the course, even if they can’t afford it.

A rewarding business

When asked about the most enjoyable aspect of being in business, David was quick to respond.

“Seeing the difference that even small amounts of education can make. The rewards are far-reaching, knowing that you’ve supported people to help (or in-fact save) the lives of others, is priceless.

I have a plaque of thanks on my wall from a parent who had learned through one of our courses how to reach out and investigate an emotional issue her teenage daughter was experiencing. Opening the door of communication and pin-pointing the initial issue meant that she was no longer afraid of the person living at the other end of the hall.”

What role does your website play in your business?

The MHP website is a succinct online presence with course information, pricing options and further detail about the company. It reveals facts and figures about mental health issues in Australia and how it effects the whole community, particularly in the workforce.

The website also reflects the breadth of people impacted by mental health problems and highlights the types of custom workplace training available.

Your website helps your company by…

“It obviously gives us online visibility as our central location for potential customers to find out more about our company, our courses and reflects our competitive service standards”.

Visitors can cross-check the courses and price-points with others in the market and confirm that MHP is an outstanding player in the field of Mental Health First Aid.

As potential customers read the exceptional Google reviews, the website is the next port of call to check credibility, establish trust and make a course booking.

Website top tips

David said it was a good idea to not get bogged down in detail – just make sure the broad picture message is there and that it’s clear.

Usability was also high on his list of suggestions, “make sure people can find what they are looking for and that your site represents what you do”.

A note from WTA

With COVID and the huge economic and personal challenges Australians have experienced this year, mental health is something everyone is talking about and we see the work David and his team is doing as invaluable.

David made sure that the website included resources and how to get help in a Mental Health Emergency, whether it is how to deal with someone who is suicidal, or if you are experiencing a Mental Health Crisis yourself.

It is best to be prepared and help intervene much sooner if possible, and that is why the training courses are so invaluable. You never know when you may need them.
